Graphite Tube
Graphite tubes are hollow cylinders made from graphite material. These graphite tubes come in different dimension, depending on the specific application requirements.
Gases or liquids flow freely in graphite tubes even at high temperatures. In today’s industries, tubes made from graphite are popular mainly due to:
- Ability to withstand thermal shock
- Excellent thermal conductivity
- High strength and durability
- Chemically inert features
- Low coefficient of thermal expansion
- Better lubricating property
For exceptional performance, most of these tubes are made from high-purity graphite. Tubes with high-purity graphite are known for their superior electrical and thermal conductivity.

Graphite Tubing Specifications
East Carbon graphite tubes are available in many configurations depending on the customer’s specific requirements. Among the key dimensions you must specify include:
- Outer diameter
- Inner diameter
- Thickness
- Length
- Level of purity
These variables determine the graphite tube price. All these graphite tubing dimensions can be customized according to customer requirements.

Manufacturing Tubes from Graphite
East Carbon has adopted a strict manufacturing process to ensure every graphite tube conforms to the recommended quality standards. Here is how graphite tubes are made:
· Primary Raw Material
The raw materials for making these tubes are mainly;
- Extruded graphite powder
- Lubricants
- Resin
· Manufacturing Process
Graphite powder is mixed with lubricants, resin, and binders and then heated to about 1200°C. The heated mixture is then forced through a die to form the tubing.
The extruded graphite tube is later heated to remove binder. The final tube has a perfect graphite structure.
Depending on where you want to use these graphite tubes, you may add other features such as threads or custom decorations.
Usually, these features vary depending on the graphite tube manufacturer. At East Carbon, we control every process for tight dimension tolerance of every tube.
Where to use Graphite Tubes

Furnaces require material with good thermal conductivity and the ability to withstand thermal shock.

A good example is the Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy that uses graphite tubes during chemical analysis.

You can use graphite tubing to transfer heat in the form of liquid or gases within the tubes. A good example is the resin graphite tube, which contains phenolic resin. The resin solves the brittle nature of graphite tubes in heat exchanger systems.

In nuclear reactors, carbon rods act as neuron moderators. Besides, it can control reactor power, efficiency, and temperature.

Other industries that use graphite tubing include aerospace, metallurgy, chemical, electrical, and electronics industry.
